Lily loves him-Amy loves him- Will nYc love him?

Mark Ronson has three engagements planned for New York in July. Thankfully we know he has been here before otherwise one would worry that he would completely find New York City smelly, hot and downright disgusting...for that is what it turns into during the months of July and August. Let's be honest. He has received massive amounts of publicity due to his work with the two ladies of Britian, Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen. Now he is touring about to promote his own album 'Versions' which is a showcase of re-worked covers and is highly enjoyable summertime music. Check out the dates below:

Apple Store DJ Summer Lineup & InStore Performances

Those clever crafty computer people over at Apple have definitely caught onto what is hot in music right now- DJs! So they roped in the Mark Ronson who has been on the scene for over fifteen years- and Francois K who has been spinning for over 30 years! Take that Girl Talk! (we love you-no worries). This DJ showcase series is pretty intense, with some great talent for us New Yorkers to check out on select Friday nights where they will spin from midnight until 2 AM at their Fifth Avenue location.

In addition to these DJ gigs, Kings of Leon posted via their website that they will be performing a FREE show on Friday, June 8th at 6:00 PM at the Apple Store located on Prince Street in SoHo. "Fans can begin to line up at any time, however, admission for the event will not be until between 5:30 - 5:45 PM. The first 200 people will get wristbands for seats, approximately another 200 will have standing room admission. Be sure to get there early to guarentee your admission to this very special event." I have been loving their new album, 'Because of The Times' and could not be more excited to check out their new material live.

Yep...even more Lily news

I just can't help it- i love Lily! So does NME despite their on going love/hate relationship. They announced news of four live tracks of Lily's songs from her LA performance posted at Urge. The songs were recorded back in February during her MTV Discover and Download tour (which i attended at Webster Hall when she passed thru). 'Smile', 'LDN', 'Littliest Things', and 'Alfie' are all just as much fun live so check them out. Lily will be stateside this weekend during Coachella (who announced the set times today) and in June at Bonnaroo.

Exactly where these boys SHOULD be

Because Jews are like *snowflakes*

There were many things i thought to myself over this past week/weekend that i spent on the futon watching MTV and recovering from the cold that wouldn't quit: i should really turn this off and read more from my latest Charles Frazier novel, damn i love that Kayne West sampled Daft Punk, i wonder if the MTV crowd even knows who Daft Punk is, i really hope Lily Allen wins Best New Artist, and my ever favorite question: why does MTV consistanly continue to play the artists i love as BACKGROUND music and intro music to their shows but don't play their videos, or videos at all when it comes down to it! Yet, i am continuously sucked back in. Especially when it comes to their award shows. My list of KEY items i enjoyed during this year's trashfest:

1. Oh watching Britney was just painful. Really- i was hiding behind my hands half the time. Ecks. Just bad. All over. Bad bad bad. Everyone they panned in the audience looked just as uncomfortable as i felt. It was worse than watching a car crash.
2. Love love love the stage this time around.
3. Yes Sarah Silverman, Amy Winehouse IS jewish.
4. Yeah Justin calling out MTV to play more videos!
5. Last year they picked The Raconteurs to be the in house band this year it is Mark Ronson. Maybe it would be nice if they again actually played these artists' music more often.
6. i don't know who this Chris Brown is-but he was definitely can dance. I would throughly enjoy a dance off between him and Justin Timberlake. Can they arrange that for next year?
7. YEah! it is the guys from Superbad!
8. Alright so my friend Jess was right about the Plan White T's. People really do seem to like them.
9. Is that Justice i hear in the background?!
10. Justin asking for more videos AGAIN! i reaaallllly wish i had gone to see him at MSG.

*The People I've Met Are the Wonders of My World*

Sometimes the best thing about music is discovering a singer or band that you cannot wait to share with a friend. One of my dearest friends is one of those special people that when you bring him something to check out, it has to be something endearing and precious because he does not just lend his compliments with facility. We don't always agree on everything but he is my favorite person to share music with and I was incredibly excited when i first came across Adele for i instantaneously knew here was a singer worthy of my most favored music critic. The two of us picked our way through the drunken NYU/St. Patricks' Day masses and made our way towards Joe's Pub on Monday night. Young and feisty, Adele is the latest in line to the Mark Ronson dynasty and has often been compared to his famously talented songstress discoveries. Settling herself in with a guitarist to her left and a pianist to her right Adele commenced a bone-chilling forty five minute introduction to her voice and personality. Her debut album, 19 (which hit number one on the UK charts in January) is not slated to be released here in the states until May but has already been the recipient of much acclaim and attention back home. Winner of the Brit Award Critics' Choice prize back in December it was easy to understand why everyone is so excited to have discovered this teenage talent. She is refreshingly unkempt and honest. Yes, she admitted to a case of nerves and then quickly accepted this particular New York stage as a challenge and belted her songs with aggressive intimacy and sass. Her laugh was the best bit of the night, flashy and loud it revealed her innocence and lessened the bewitching ambiance that is a performance at Joe's Pub. Trying her hand at Dylans' Time out of Mind i was immediately reduced to goosebumps. Although her performance was shorter than i would have liked she covered all her bases with Chasing Pavement, Hometown Glory, That's It, I Quit, I'm Moving On, Daydreams, First Love and Right As Rain. Hopefully she will be back in May along with her album so i can hear my favorite track, Tired. For now I will continue to revisit her performance in my head as I wander the streets of our city and consider myself lucky for having a friend to share her music with.
