We are the same machine

The Frequency are the electronic, experiemental, dance-infused love-child of Marc Cazorla, Fedner Rhoses, Alex Stiff, Prophet 52, Mark Quinn, Hector Ferrerio and Sean Collican. LA-based they have been making the rounds touring with the likes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Their album, We Are All The Same Machine features one of my favorite electronic tracks of 2008, Talk To Me. Check out all of their tour dates listed below and be sure to keep an ear out for their music in an upcoming Crackberry commerical.

Ben Kweller- Last night at Southpaw

I had to go to the Mercury Lounge to see the band The Frequency perform at their first ever New York show, opening for the 1990's. I was very impressed by their trippy, psych rock sound-even if it isn't exactly the type of music i usually listen to. Similar to the Album Leaf, Air and Stereolab it was dreamy music that could easily fit into a movie soundtrack such as 'Lost in Translation.' Those who had turned up early seemed pleasantly surprised by a band that is sure to be moving onto larger tours sometime soon. I was sad not to be able to make it out to the last night of the Ben Kweller album performances at Southpaw. Did anyone go? I am curious what he encored with as well...

Ben Kweller @ WoXy studio.mp3***I LOVE, great interview and excellent live tracks!***

A few months ago i was lucky enough to have a friend pass along the lastest album from New York based Takka Takka, Migration. Instantly I loved and was incredibly impressed and excited for this band to lure in ears of new fans outside of our small little city, which they are sure to do with this beautifully composed collection of songs. They are playing a handful of New York shows scattered throughout the next few weeks as well as stopping by my loves, Daytrotter for an in-studio session. Sure to be a golden one. In the meantime check out these two tracks and enjoy!
