U R a Fever

This is a show I wish was coming somewhere near me, even though I was lucky enough to recently have seen The Raconteurs. They are hitting the road again in September with one of my favorite duo's The Kills and even playing the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The Black Keys and My Morning Jacket are playing there this summer as well-on my birthday...might have to make a last minute trip for that one. Hopefully you will be lucky enough to have this tour come near you as well!

New Kills Album in the Works

Standing outside Irving Plaza waiting for my friends the other night i was delighted to see one of my favorite bands stroll up to see the show. I was surprised as i surveyed the sidewalk and saw that no one seemed to notice who Alison Mosshart-aka "VV" and Jamie Hince-aka "Hotel" from the British band The Kills were or if they did- i couldn't tell. I have always felt that The Kills have not recieved the attention and respect they deserve this side of the pond. It is quite unfortunate for they make some pretty fine music together and their live shows could rival that of Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs any day. Apparently they are working on a new album as a followup to 'No Wow' and hoping for a fall release? YES! I hope that they enjoyed checking out The White Stripes as much as i did.
*check out their space on Domino Records Artists Profiles-they have quite the interesting story.

Catch a fever

The first band i ever met in person was the talented twosome, The Kills who will be releasing their third album, U R A Fever this Spring but for right now you can hear a sample of their new material with their new video directed by one of my favorites, Sophie Muller. We will let you know when show dates appear. Have to love the split screen effect and I think we can easily say that these two have a bit of a crush on The White Stripes (spotted them at their Irving Plaza performance) How could you not?

Rough Trade Music Store

When i started out in this industry i was a on more than a little intern at Rough Trade Records. I could not have been more excited to work for my favorite record label who at the time was home to Belle and Sebastian, Adam Green, The Kills, British Seapower, The Libertines, The Hidden Cameras, The Delays, The Viels, Gruff Rhys and many more bands which were and still are some of my favorite artists. It always made me jealous that their roster in the UK was more established and had it's own store. However, i could not have been more proud of my time with such an incredible company with the most lovely people you could ever wish to work for. So proud to see of them taking on such a big challenge. Best of luck loves!

Thank you Baltimore Sun

Hipsters doing what they do best
For delving into that on going debate about what is the difference between a hipster and someone who is just plain ole' indie.
"Hipsters fix up and look sharp. Their hair is meticulously messy. Sometimes they sport tattoos. They are music snobs. Some manage to look bored no matter what is happening around them." Baltimore Sun Now I can sleep at night! Happy Thursday- enjoy the warm weather while it is still here...in FEBRUARY!

My Old Kentucky Blog kills the video star

Bon Iver~Flume (Live in-studio at MOKB/WEEM) from LaundroMatinee on Vimeo.
I have been incredibly behind and am playing catch up but things I have loved will hopefully be making their way onto this site however slowly and late they may be. One of them is My Old Kentucky Blog launching their new video site which features incredibly intimate and one of a kind in studio sessions with some my most beloved people to tour this year. Visit LaundroMatinnee to check out Dr. Dog, Bon Iver, The Rosebuds and many more as they stop by and play a few tunes and share some insight into their tours, music and daily lives.
