Man that M.I.A.'s knows how to gain attention, first with our government and now with her Flash*y pants! Much buzz has been surrounding her latest effort with leaks and snips of the music stripped from various music blogs almost instantaneously. Her show in Los Angeles didn't recieve the warmest reviews, however, i for one think she looks fantastic. So fantastic that i demanded JOrtzzzstarrr* check it out-for if anyone can pull off this ensemble it would be her. Oh and forgetting for a second that i am not a fashionista and this is a music blog you should go procure yourself the new album here for its' August 21st release date. Excited to check her out this weekend during Lollapalooza!

Bonnarrooooster 2007

Apparently it is hot, dusty and sunny down in Tennessee right about now. Crowds are crawling out of their hotel beds or their tents in the Walmart parking lot. Plotting out which sets to go see, how much beer to drink...forego food for a mere smoke or not? Whatever your plan is for this year's Bonnaroo for those of us who cannot attend AT&T are providing us with a lovely live stream throughout the festivities. In the meantime my firespark co-worker, JOrtzzzstarrr* be reporting in with interesting tid bits of information such as, 'how many cigs did Miss. Lily Allen smoke backstage' and 'did The Police watch The White Stripes from the side of the stage' and 'what exactly does THE Jack White do before going on stage?' Keep it real JOrtzzzstarrr*

Lily Allen quote of the day: "It's fucking hot isn't it?!" Apparently she is sexing it up for the video boys during her private recording session and keeping herself adequately hydrated with swigs from a jaeger bottle. Elisha Cuthbert and Hot Chip are standing on the sides enjoying the scene. Meanwhile Caleb and crew ran into some problems during the Kings of Leon set earlier today. Unfortunately for them and the crowd the PA system cut out. Caleb exited the stage, calmed down and returned with his band and played one hell of a kickin set. Could we expect any less?! Highlights from yesterday included surpised enjoyment during Clutch's set. 'A mix of Widespread Panic and heavy rock. Very good, need to check out' were the orders i received. After scarfing down some food with String Cheese Incident the darkest spot of the day had to be when JOrtzzzstarrr* had her golf cart confiscated. After a few threatening text messages she recieved word over her high tech walkie talkie that sadly, yes, her golf cart had indeed been removed from her charge. Don't feel too too badly for our lady who has scored some free gifts such as sunglasses, headphones, t-shirts and the random run-by patchouli 'perfum' sprayings. YEah-hearing that was enough to make me want to take a shower. ICks sticks! As i wrap this report up texts of the audience loving Lily are lightening up my celly phone. So i was just reminiscing with JOrtzzzstarrr* about how we went to see The Klaxons less than a year ago in the basement of Midway a few blocks from our apts...we almost didn't check them out but i had one lonely mp3 by them that i couldn't stop listening to. And now look at them...craziness! I have a feeling they might just snag themselves the Mercury Prize. Bjorks' pre-sale is already over-good luck on grabbing tickets during the regular sale this Friday!

Electric Hot Pink Airwaves

Warning Parents: Might Cause Innocents to vibrate and shake
Auzzies. Lately, they are on fire! Modular Records based out of Sydney and home to Cut Copy and The Presets is the label responsible for creating quite the stir on the dance floor this summer. Trusting Jaime as I always do I procured a ticket to see The Presets last night at Bowery Ballroom months ago. Apparently they opened up for both The Rapture and Hot Chip-at two shows I attended, but I do not remember seeing them. Or at least not a performance the likes of which I experienced last night. Dear sweet heaven above I had not danced like that since an LCD Soundsystem or Daft Punk performance. Oh how I had been missing it. Theirs is a show you should experience live if you are at all into any of the bands previously mentioned. Armed with a stellar lighting system (apparently the same people behind the Daft Punk space ship) and the best dance build-up I have heard in a while they are completely worthy of your sweat and best moves. Or worst moves. Whichever you wish to exhibit. The flow for these types of shows can make or break the night and half way through I found myself hoping it would never end. I had not listened much to their album beforehand which did not inhibit my ability to enjoy for theirs is a sound that is delivered with such force and slickness that it does not compare to the studio product. I felt like I was not in Bowery Ballroom where the floor was vibrating underneath a jumping mass of hipsters, scenesters and dancestars*. I would happily go see them upon their return. Definitely on the list of top shows for 2008.
