Dappled Cities 'Fly'

Dappled Cities otherwise known as 'Dappled Cities Fly' are the latest sensation to make their way out of Australia. The five bandmates, Hugh Boyce on drums, Dave Rennick on vocals, guitar and keys, Ned Cooke on keys and samples, Alex Moore on bass and Tim Derricourt on vocals, guitar and keys have left Sydney behind to tour with the likes of Tokyo Police Club and The Fratellis. Their album, 'Granddance' was released in 2006 and recently was released in the US on July 3rd via Dangerbird Records home to Sea Wolf, Silversun Pickups and fellow tourmates All Smiles. I must say, i haven't overwhelmingly enjoyed a band as much as i am enjoying them since Peter, Bjorn and John. 'Beach Song' happily reminded me of Depeche Mode or The Cure, timing in with that 80's electronic sound i love so much. The thing that is great about this band is each track sounds different adding an exciting element that keeps you interested and guessing where their next sound will come from. 'Watercourse' is a more mellow track with melodies similar to that of Band of Horses whereas 'Fire Fire Fire' is upbeat and jumpy. I am very curious to hear what their live show is like.
