LCD Soundsystem...Playing at your house? Your house!

"Oh oh oh oh i don't know, i don't know, oh, where to begin
we are north americans
and for those of you who still think we're from england
we're not, no."
But i can understand why people MIGHT think that LCD Soundsystem ARE from England. Because they perform with the same intensity, energy, and effortlessness as MOST of the english bands that have found success stateside. The same can be said for their fans that experienced their set at the Bowery Ballroom friday night. Anyone might have thought that they had landed in Berlin, Paris or London due to the massive dancing, singing, drinking, jovial crowd. How could this possibly be NYC? How could this be the famed passive Lower East Side? "The time has come the time has come the time as come today..." for New Yorkers to stop standing at shows with their arms crossed, to sing the praises of the artists they love (literally...singing back every word in time to the infectious cowbell...) -"all the party people want to tell you" how FANTASTIC this show was. My co-worker and friend at one point looked at me and said,"i thought it was going to be good, but i had no idea..." Hanging out towards the left back of the crowd with music managers, booking agents, publicists, we were ALL fans, we were all affected by the music and we were all completely sold on how good this show was. Because "new york's the greatest if you get someone to pay the rent" AND we also have two more upcoming LCD soundsystem shows to look forward to.
